Zafacón

A trash can or bin, in the Spanish of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. It is one of the words that most confuses Spanish speakers from elsewhere, since it looks nothing like the usual terms. It shows up on signs in parks and beaches, so it pays to recognize it.

Example

A sign saying usa el zafacón is asking you to bin your trash, nothing more exotic than that.
