Cayo

A small sand and coral islet with no services and often no shade, reached by boat. They sit off Fajardo, around La Parguera and around Culebra and Vieques, and they are the snorkel stop on nearly every day trip. Since there is nothing on them, water, food and shade come with you from the mainland.

Example

A cay has no restroom and no bar, so the good tour is the one that brings shade, water and something to eat.

Frequently asked questions

Are there restrooms on the cays?
Usually not. Tour boats tend to carry one on board and that is the only option.
Can I get there on my own?
Only with your own boat or a charter with a captain. The normal route is a half day or full day trip.
