Salsa (género musical)
A Caribbean genre that crystallized in New York with Puerto Rican musicians at its core and came back to the island as its own. Puerto Rico gave it central figures such as Ismael Rivera, Héctor Lavoe and El Gran Combo. San Juan has venues with dancing on weeknights, many of them running a beginner class before the band starts.
