Ferry de Ceiba
The boat service linking the Ceiba terminal in the east with Vieques and Culebra, which replaced the old departures from Fajardo. The crossing is about 45 minutes to Vieques and close to an hour to Culebra. Residents have priority, seats sell out and tickets are bought online or at the window in advance.
Example
From San Juan it is over an hour by car to Ceiba before you even board, and that leg is the one people forget.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book?
Yes, and as early as possible. Tickets go on sale in advance and sell out on weekends and holidays.
Can I take a rental car across?
Rental contracts usually forbid it and vehicle loading has its own rules and quotas. The normal move is to cross on foot and rent on the island.
