What it is

Pablo Casals founded this festival in Puerto Rico in 1956, after moving to the island, and it is still the great classical music event of the Caribbean. It is run by the Corporación de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico and brings international soloists and conductors to the concert hall that carries the Casals name, inside the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce. The 2026 edition ran from May 23 to June 6.

What to expect

A program of concerts spread over about two weeks, with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra hosting and guest artists from abroad. This is concert hall classical music, with tickets sold by concert rather than a mandatory subscription, and the Sala Sinfónica has good acoustics and a comfortable capacity. Buy before you travel, because the concerts with a well known soloist sell out.

Getting there

The Centro de Bellas Artes is in Santurce, ten minutes by car from Viejo San Juan and five from Condado. It has its own paid parking and an urban train stop nearby at Sagrado Corazón. This is the part of the city with the most restaurants, so it works well as a full evening plan.
