Kickoff times also shift for television, and a game listed as an evening start can slide earlier by an hour or more.

The practical version: check the official Concacaf schedule, then wait for a confirmed venue and a confirmed kickoff before you buy a plane ticket. If your dates land in a peak week, book a cancellable hotel early and hold the flight until the date is firm. Group fixtures in this competition are usually played home and away, so the return leg against Dominica, whenever it comes, is in the Caribbean and is not a domestic trip. That one needs a passport.

Where the matches are played and what they cost

Home fixtures have generally been staged in the San Juan metro area, in Bayamón and San Juan. Bayamón is a short drive west of the capital and easy to reach by car or rideshare from a hotel in San Juan or Isla Verde. League B is the second tier of the Concacaf Nations League, which is the reason tickets stay cheap by US sports standards. Expect roughly 15-40 USD for general admission at a home match, sold through the federation's official channels rather than a large US ticketing platform. Buy there. Resale listings that appear the week of the game are where visitors overpay for seats that were never scarce in the first place.

Concacaf publishes ground rules per match, including bag size, entry gates and what you cannot carry in. Arrive 60-90 minutes before kickoff if you are driving, and treat parking near the ground as first come, first served.

Build a weekend around the match, not a day trip

Ninety minutes plus stoppage is not a trip. Fly in the day before rather than the morning of. A weather delay in Miami or Orlando is the most common way mainland visitors miss a kickoff, and no amount of airport sprinting fixes it once the whistle goes.

With one spare day, El Yunque is the easy add, roughly an hour east of San Juan by car. Sections of the forest use timed reservations, so check before you drive up the mountain. With two spare days, Culebra and Vieques are the usual pairing, reachable by ferry or small plane. Both are noticeably quieter midweek, and both are better booked a few weeks out in winter.

If you are based in Fajardo for the eastern islands, you are also within range of a bioluminescent bay tour, which runs at night and does not clash with an afternoon kickoff. Skip it on a full-moon week, when the glow is at its weakest.

The passport question, and when to go

A home match in Puerto Rico is a domestic trip. You fly from the mainland with a driver's licence or state ID, you spend dollars, and your normal phone plan works without a roaming add-on. No passport, no exchange rate, no customs line on the way home.

An away match is not domestic. If you follow the team to another Caribbean island, that is international travel with a passport requirement and its own entry rules, so check them before you buy anything.

On timing, the Atlantic hurricane season runs through November, which is worth weighing against a cheaper nonrefundable fare. For a short trip built around one fixed date, a changeable ticket usually costs less than a missed match. And one honest caveat: this is a single win. Group form swings, and a fixture that looks decisive today can be meaningless by the next window. Check the standings before you spend money on a trip built around one game.
