Histoire
Hacienda cafetalera
A mountain coffee estate, many of them from the nineteenth century, with a main house, drying platforms and sometimes restored water powered machinery. Several offer guided visits with tastings around Ponce, Adjuntas, Jayuya, Yauco and Maricao. It is the clearest way to understand why the island's interior was settled the way it was.
Exemple
A guided tasting at a restored estate costs less than a beach excursion and explains the entire mountain landscape.
