Charco (poza de río)
A natural freshwater pool in a mountain river, often with a waterfall or a rock to jump from. They are the weekend plan for many locals and there are dozens across the mountain range. Water levels rise fast when it rains upstream, so nobody swims when the river runs muddy or strong.
Exemple
A charco with clear still water is safe, and the same charco running brown after a storm is not.
