A shared van or car running a fixed route between towns, stopping at the plaza or the municipal terminal, and the real intercity transport outside the metro area. It leaves when it fills up rather than on a timetable. It is cheap and authentic, and it demands time and flexibility, so it does not fit a tight schedule.

A público leaves when there are enough passengers, so the right question at the terminal is not what time it leaves but how many seats are left to fill.
