Bosque Seco de Guánica
A subtropical dry forest on the south coast, designated a biosphere reserve and considered one of the best preserved of its kind in the Caribbean. It is the exact opposite of El Yunque, with cactus, thorn scrub and hard sun instead of rain. Trails lead to cliffs and small beaches, and it pays to go early with water.
Exemple
Hiking Guánica at midday in August is a classic mistake. There is no shade and the trail radiates heat off the rock.
