Storia
La Fortaleza
A sixteenth century building that started as a fortification and ended up as the governor's official residence, in continuous use ever since. It stands inside the wall at the end of Calle del Cristo and belongs to the World Heritage listing along with the forts. Guided visits depend on the official agenda and are often suspended, so check the same day.
Esempio
The street rising to the gates of La Fortaleza usually carries a hanging installation of umbrellas or flags, and it is one of the most photographed spots in the city.
